To make matters worse, the mentally retarded (implied) parents then go on to defend the furbag that murdered their HUMAN child. They don't cry for the loss of their son and behead the mutt. Instead, they say:
"...this was an accident, not some kind of vicious attack."
Really, Mr Shahan?
Maybe he was speaking nonsense because of the shock of it all. But still, I find it disgusting that dog owners are so quick to make lame excuses for their pets and how they treat dogs like family members.
In any event, Mr Shahan should have been advised that a Mastiff/Rhodesian mix is not an ideal breed to have around children. Each type of dog is suited for different tasks. It's just part of their design. It doesn't help that all dogs are inherently violent killers either.
If this was just one single isolated incident, I could bow out and politely walk away. However, this is not the only report of such an incident in the past few months. This story came just a few months after baby Aiden McGrew was ripped to pieces by his family petdog.

The scene was so horrible and so gruesome, that even the police investigators seemed to be tripped-up while trying to explain what happened:
"It's terrible. I don't want to go into details about exactly what happened because the investigation is still ongoing," Knight said. "It was a real bad scene."
Holy Crap.
Even the Coroner was shocked by the carnage:
"Today is one of the saddest days in my 20+ years of being in the Dorchester County Coroner's Office as I report to all of you one of the worst deaths I have ever handled," Nisbet wrote in his email to the media, which had the subject line "Today's Nightmare."
So we see now that dogs are not suitable in the company of babies.
But it get worse...and a bit dumber....
